The Tour of Energy Efficient Homes will showcase some of the Rio Grande Valley's most energy efficient homes and top energy efficient builders. These RGV builders specialize in constructing high performance housing to help cut utility bills from 15 to 30 percent or more. The homes in the Tour have all received the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) ENERGY STAR ® certification after being inspected by an independent Home Energy Rater to verify that the residence meets the strict requirements of the Energy Star program.

The homes showcased in the Tour will include a variety of sizes and prices in several cities in Hidalgo County. The homes will be opened to the public on Saturday and Sunday, October 15 & 16, from 12pm to 6pm. Visitors will be able to talk to builders and vendors specializing in the latest energy saving and eco-friendly building practices and products.
